Signaling systems
The used interlocking type has got a deciding influence for the capacity of railway infrastructure. RMCon using the software system RailSys is able to model the different interlocking types and signalling systems for investigations. Classic examples for those investigations are the determination of influences caused by the implementation of ERMTS level 1, 2 and 3 or by change from signaling system with stationary signals to ATC technology adapting the lengths of block sections at the same time. Specific characteristics (e.g. block occupation times or minimum headways) are calculated in variants and are compared.
During the execution of an investigation an infrastructure model including signalling system and a timetable are developed in RailSys. Afterwards the influences of the signaling system to timetable construction (capacity) and multiple simulation (operational quality) are investigated.
When planning new railway control centers the complete interlocking technology of a station is often renewed and economized. RMCon is able to determine the necessary signaling equipment considering signal locations for trains and shunting, lengths of overlaps, axle-counters and so on. So it is possible to adjust the equipment for the new railway control center to the requirement of operational procedure just at the beginning of planning.
